Each trivia question has a point value from one to twenty-five, which is determined by the difficulty level of the question. The questions
start easy and get progressively harder as you answer them correctly. For each question you answer correctly the point value of that question is added to your
score and you advance to the next highest point value question. If you get one wrong you lose ten points and you drop to the next lowest point value question.
As soon as you answer three consecutive questions incorrectly your session ends. All negative scores are discarded, for both team play and individual
play.
Each trivia question has a difficulty level that’s calculated real-time, according to the proportion of users who answer correctly. Each
time a question is asked its value is updated, making each trivia question perfectly weighted based on the current percentage of participants who arrive at
the correct answer. As specific knowledge falls in and out of favor, the questions adapt. This can be especially useful in instances where the question has
an element of time to it. As an example, one of our questions ask: Which city will be hosting the 2012 Summer Olympics? As 2012 approaches and the correct
answer moves from the obscure to the mainstream, the difficulty rating will reflect the shift, probably becoming easier with each passing year. As 2012 fades
into memory the weighting will most likely rise, as the specific knowledge becomes more obscure with each passing year. With our user-determined weighting
model, the points you get for each question are determined by you and your peers, not the question’s author.
